The first port of call if you think you may be entitled to an NDIS plan is to call the NDIS on 1800 800 110. The NDIS will be able to help you work out if you are possibly entitled to apply for an NDIS plan.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme’s Provider Finder is an invaluable tool and provides an up-to-date list of all NDIS registered services. You can easily search for registered providers by location and service. (see link below)
If you are plan managed, you also have access to unregistered private providers. There are a number of provider directories to help you find the right NDIS provider.
Contact Able Plan Manager for assistance on how to find these directories.
You are entitled to select any accredited NDIS Plan Manager. While many participants prefer local providers due to familiarity, distance is not a determining factor for receiving quality service. Plan Managers are capable of delivering exceptional services even if they are located far away from you. If you value a personal touch with someone who is familiar with your needs and preferences, then Able Plan Manager is an ideal choice. You will have a dedicated Plan Manager who is familiar with you and your providers.
PACE has been trialled in Tasmania over a 12 month period and the rollout Australia wide commenced from 30th October 2023.
If you have an existing plan prior to 30th October 2023 it will remain in the old NDIS system until a new plan is created.
How does PACE affect plan managed participants?
New participants (or their nominee) with plans created within the new PACE system are now required to endorse their plan manager.
This can be done when you meet with your NDIA planner, or by phoning the NDIA customer service line on 1800 800 110 (option 2) and ask to have Able Plan Manager endorsed at the plan manager. Alternatively, Able Plan Manager can make the request on your behalf – the NDIS will then contact you to confirm.
If your NDIS plan was created after 30th October 2023 it is very likely that it has been created in PACE.
If you have an existing NDIS plan and already have a plan manager engaged, that plan manager will automatically be endorsed. You do not need to contact the NDIA to endorse – unless you need to change plan manager.
It is important to discuss setting up your NDIA plan as “plan managed” and including “Improved Life Choices” in the budget during the initial planning meeting. If your plan has already started, you may contact the NDIS helpline at 1800 800 110 to request a review. Please advise your LAC or NDIS Planner that you wish to engage Able Plan Manager as your dedicated Plan Manager.
All NDIS service users have the right to file a complaint in the event of any grievances. This can be done by phone, email or directly with the provider. You can find more information about this by downloading the “How to make a complaint” form here.
On the 3rd October 2024 the new NDIS legislation became effective.
There is now a list of supports that are NOT funded by the NDIS.
There are some circumstances where this NOT funded supports may be approved. In this case a Replacement Support application needs to be submitted.
